HAZRAT ALI IBN ABI TALIB (R.A) - Biography,Family


Hazrat Ali (R.A) was born in the holy place of Islam, the Kaaba in Mecca. His father name is Abu Talib and mother name is  Fatimah bint Asad. Hazrat Ali also known as Imam Ali, ALI IBN ABI TALIB and Mola Ali (A.S).

Imam Ali & Muhammad (PBUH):

Imam Ali was the cousin and son-in-law of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W). Ali He was honored to be the first male who accepted Islam. Hazrat Ali(R.A) protected Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) from an early age. He participated in almost all the battles fought by the nascent Muslims. On his migration to Medina, he married Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W)’s daughter Hazrat Fatimah (R.A). He ruled as the fourth caliph from 656 to 661. 

Ali IbnTalib was selected caliph by Muhammad's companions in 656. He has a significant place in both Shias and Sunnis religious view, politically and spiritually. Many biographical sources about Ali are often prejudiced according on sectarian notes but they agree that he was a pious Muslim who dedicated his life for Islam. He is a just ruler in accordance with the Quran and the Sunnah.
Imam Ali had four children born to Fatimah, the only child of Muhammad to have surviving descendants. Their two sons, Hasan and Husain, were cited by Muhammad to be his own sons, honored numerous times in his lifetime and titled "the leaders of the youth of Jannah (Heaven). Ali and Fatimah also had a third son, Muhsin.
Their marriage lasted until Fatimah's death ten years later and was said to be full of love and friendliness. Ali is reported to have said about Fatimah, "By Allah, I did never anger her or force her to do something (unwillingly) until Allah took her to the better world. She also did never anger me nor did she disobey me in anything at all. When I looked at her, my griefs and sorrows were relieved. Although polygamy was permitted, Ali did not marry another woman while Fatimah was alive, and his marriage to her possesses a special spiritual significance for all Muslims because it is seen as the marriage between two great figures surrounding Muhammad.

According to a hadith which is narrated by Shia and Sunni, Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) told about him;

"I'm the city of knowledge and Ali is its gate ...”.

In 661, he was attacked and assassinated by a Kharijite whilst praying in the Great Mosque of Kufa, being martyred two days later.
